The Walking Society
Vicente Ganesha

Eivissa

Say hola to the island resident who lives and breathes his own personal brand of Eivissa eccentricity.

The Walking Society

This is Vicente

On the white streets of Eivissa's Old Town, you'll find splashes of color at Vicente Ganesha's boutique. A rainbow of garments from his made-in-India clothing line attracts everyone from passing tourists to A-listers who pop in for a chat and a selfie.

Vicente is somewhat of an institution in Eivissa, where he first set foot in 1971 at the age of 20. After obtaining a passport with his father's permission, he left his pueblo on the Costa Blanca near Alicante, coming via Paris, and the rest is history.

On "this free little island" he calls home, Vicente has run several stores: the first called The End, after the epic Doors song, and now Ganesha, after the elephant deity of luck.

For Vicente, the greatest treasures in life are freedom and independence. He is a free spirit and a seeker, brimming with a curiosity that keeps him young. The Eivissa he knows and loves is still the same; the people have changed, rather than the landscape.

He fondly remembers the hedonistic days spent barefoot on the dusty streets with barely any money—light-years away from today, when phones and wealth are a fixation. Nothing and nowhere was off limits then. "People are more beautiful when they don't have too much money," he says.

Vicente is, and will always be, devoted to Eivissa and the Mediterranean. He plans to stay here forever.
