Jo Nagasaka Shangai Store

We are happy to unveil our latest store and showroom in the Hengshan Fang area of Shanghai. Designed by Japanese architecture studio Schemata Architects, the 3-story building reflects our shared dedication to sustainability and simplicity.

"The world has changed and so have the needs of society."

The unique retail space on the ground floor has been designed using minimal materials. Studio founder Jo Nagasaka has left walls and ceilings intentionally bare and unfinished, while the benches and the cash desk share a similar aesthetic.

"Well designed with materials that are suitable for creating a more circular society."

Nagasaka has used recyclable materials like metal, cardboard, and wood to "address the concept of circularity"; the central display tabletops are built from Camper shoe boxes, designed and handcrafted by the studio in Tokyo. Clever details like a metal grid structure present the illusion of shoes floating in midair.
