In Corsica, the traditional game of bucce is widespread and highly competitive. With similar rules to the French sport of pétanque, bucce involves getting as many balls as possible closest to the target ball.
There are courts in nearly every village, where locals practice tactical throws of speed, propulsion, and precision. For bucce enthusiasts, the pinnacle is an annual televised tournament where players and spectators from across Europe face off.
Competition, and bucce, remain very much alive in Corsica.
