Camper History - Company origins

Lorenzo Fluxa founded Camper in 1975
in response to the growing demand for a new and fresh style of footwear. Fluxa, who comes from a shoemaking family, used his knowledge of traditional craftmanship as the foundation for a daring new brand.

The Fluxa family's longstanding commitment to innovative craftmanship dates back to 1877 when Lorenzo's grandfather, Antonio Fluxa, a skilled cobbler, travelled from Mallorca to England. He returned with the first sewing machines on the island and a revolutionary approach to traditional shoemaking.

Our shoes are still designed and developed in Inca, in the heart of Mallorca. Our young design team works alongside skilled artisans to create approximately 500 models each season.

Now led by the fourth generation of the Fluxa family, our footprint has stretched around the globe with stores in more than 40 countries.
