Mallorca is the birthplace of Camper and the centre of gravity around which the brand revolves. In a small town called Alaró, on the northwest side of the island, there is a singular place where the peaceful rural Mediterranean world meets the best international creative talent. Son Fortesa is the old fortress that now houses our Foundation.
The house's traditional architecture, renovated by Rafael Moneo, is the first indication of what goes on at this old estate: an unusual blend of tradition and modernity, which produces some of the world's most innovative shoes. At Son Fortesa, experimental ideas coexist with happy herds of Mallorcan black pigs. While the animals live and grow in peace, feasting on figs, carobs and barley, promising young stars from Europe's best design schools participate in experimental footwear workshops or attend technical and artistic lectures given by experts in creative processes, materials, anatomy and sustainable projects. The goal: to discover new ways of understanding shoes and put our values in practice.
